Care and Maintenance of your Fine Jewelry
Gold Wolff Jewelers highly recommends that you get your jewelry inspected and cleaned regularly, at least once every 3 months for jewelry that is worn every day. We will always do this for free regardless of where your jewelry is purchased (with the exception of watches and squash blossom necklaces which will incur a small fee).
During an inspection, we will look for broken or worn prongs, loose gemstones, weak clasps, worn areas and other damage. Catching small problems early on reduces maintenance and replacement costs for you.
Beyond our professional cleaning and maintenance you can care for your jewelry yourself:
* Clean your jewelry gently at home using a mild dish soap and soft toothbrush. Never use abrasives like toothpaste.
*Prevent exposure to chemicals that can damage and discolor precious metals and gems- Remove your jewelry before using household cleaners and going into chlorinated water and salt water. Put your jewelry on last- after you have applied perfumes and makeup.
*Avoid heavy blows to your jewelry-prongs can break, gems can loosen or chip (even diamonds). WE recommend removing your jewelry before doing strenuous activities and bring in your jewelry for inspection as soon as possible if you do experience bumps or snags to it. Any damage may not be noticeable to the naked eye.
*When not wearing your jewelry, place each item in a separate, soft, compact container. If cluttered together, jewelry can become scratched-even diamonds. Hanging chains vertically keeps them from becoming tangled
